A remarkable set of Russian stereo views , fine in a near fine box, including views in and nearSt Petersburg, Moscow, Nijni Novgorod, Kief (Kiev), Odessa and the Black Sea. The images of Czarist Russia jump out when viewed in the stereo viewer which is included in the set. Views are copyrighted 1897 and 1898. Each is numbered and the number corresponds with the description of the view in the book. Ten maps are at the end of the book, with red Vs that are numbered on the map. The point of the "V" is where the photographer stood for the stereo view, and the lines of the "V" are the direction of the shot. It is thus possible to go to that spot today and compare modern Russia with what that location looked like in 1898. Book is near fine, original cloth with a gilt title on the front cover, no wear or foxing or browning inside.
