Subtitled, "The Sword Hunters of the Hamran Arabs". Published one year after the first edition in the same dark blue cloth with a gilt elephant chasing horse and rider on the front board. No wear at the spine ends as this copy has been neatly rebacked with the old spine laid onto the new cloth spine. Np edge wear. The maps are in excellent condition, the folding map of Abyssinia (now Ethiopia with the route of Baker's explorations. He took his wife, which was most unusual for a Victorian lady. But she was not that; he had purchased her in a Balkan slave market and later passed her off in London society as a Balkan princess. And it worked. A little confusion on the plates. Plates called for on pages 213 and 225 are combined onto the page 213 plate. And there is an extra plate on page 484 not called for in the list of plates , " Horns of the Maarif Antelope".
