A fine, facsimile reprint of the travel classic. This volume is close to "as new", clean and tight inside and out with no prior owner marks The dustjacket has no tears, but the spine is faded. Wolff was most peculiar, but was dispatched to Bokhara by the British goveernment to determine the fate of Stoddart and Connolly. They had been executed by the Amir, and Wolff escaped , most likely by convincing all in Bokhara that he was crazy. Alexander Burnes in Kabul reports that Wolff arrived there, from Bokhara, naked, having been robbed of all enroute. The humorous side of the Raj, and the Great Game.
