Revised and enlarged third edition, "A Historical and Intimate Description of Its Chief Places of Interest". A wonderful reference to what Peking (now Beijing) was in the 1920s. Juliet Bredon loved the Peking that she lived in, and that is clear in her famous book. This is very special, design binding in full brown morocco leather with black stones in the corners on the front board and a red temple in the middle of the front cover. Bright gilt title and author name on the spine. Japanese flowered endpapers and silk handsewn endbands at the spine ends. Inside, clean and tight with no prior owner marks and no foxing or stains. Protected in a new clamshell box, beige cloth , the same endpapers on the outer edges and a new red leather title label. A few pages are uncut, so this is an UNREAD copy. A specail copy of probably the best book on old Peking. Images available on request.
