A fine brown3/4 calf binding with marbled boards, matching endpapers and marbled page edges. Raised bands, a maroon title label with gilt letters, and elaborate gilt decoration in the spine panels. Penciled on the back of the front free endpaper is "From the Library of Stanley Baldwin , Prime Minister". Included is a lecture by Conington delivered at Oxford in 1855 on "Life and Writings of Persius. Then comes a Prologue "A Persii Flacci Saturarum and six Satires in Latin on the left page, with an English translation on the right, and detailed notes below. A gem for a Latin scholar.
