As new inside and out. An exquisite fine morocco binding in dark red, both boards filled with 90 gilt flowers and small gilt dots between. All edges gilt. Spine label in lime green with artist name and title in gilt, the green surrounded by gilt leaves, and small dots of gilt all over the title label. The gilt leaves also run along all edges of both boards. Gilt dentilles on the board edges and the same leaves run along the inside edges of the boards. Subtle leaf endpapers in peach. The artist left Germany in 1939 and is believed to have executed these wood engravings in the 1940s, some hinting of his homeland. The first 12 are the 12 months of the year, Part One. Part two, one or more lines of Brooke poem on each page with a woodcut. Limited edition of 250, this copy one of 200 printed in Goudy Modern on Rosa paper. The fine binding is signed on the inside of the back board in gilt by Christopher Shaw. Protected in an AS NEW clamshell box of lime green cloth with red cloth padding inside.
