Oblong 4 to photo album in origina reptile dark brown paper over boards, with bright gilt title on the front, and original brown strong tied. There are variants to the bindings, none having a date of publication which was between circa 1925 and circa 1935. The reptile skin appears to be the first variant, with a patterned brown paper later that included the photographer and publisher names on the front cover. In this copy, they are on a small label on the inside of the back cover. Printed by Rotophop A.G. in Berlin according to ETANA. Bland endpaper, then 50 pages of heavy card printed on one side only, most with one image 8 1/2 by 6 inches. Scenes , people and Sumerian ancient sites as sepia photos, complete and clean, each captioned in English. Basrah, Baghdad, Kadimain, Babylon, Ctesiphon, Nineveh, Mosul and an assortment of street and market scenes with Iraqis going about daily chores, including Arabs, Jews and Kurds. No foxing or stains. Bit of wear to the spine ends, and a small chip out of the bottom edge on the back cover. Otherwise, very good plus. Quite scarce.
