Title continued, "And Some of the Greek Islands in the Spring and Summer of 1833". Vwery nice 3/4 red calf bound by Morrell in London. Raised bands on the spine with bright gilt lettering and gilt decoration between the bands. Only a hint of edge wear, top edge gilt. Inside, very clean and tight with no foxing or browning or stains, including on the Cruikshank plates. The author was 28 when he spent several months in the Turkish capital,, and wondered about on some Greek Islands. He was living in Naples , a member of the circle around Sir William Gell, which included his friends Lord Byron and Sir Walter Scott. It is a charming travel journal, and a handsome copy.
