The masterful bibliography of the prolific adventurer and explorer, Richard Burton, SIGNED BY PENZER, and number 119 of the edition limited to 500 copies. Brown cloth with bevelled edges and bright gilt title on the spine, and only a hint of edgewear. Now protected in a clear, mylar dustjacket. Inside, very clean and tight, with no foxing or stains. Top edges gilt. A small tag on the inside cover reads W.A. Eddy, TAPLINE, Beirut, Lebanon. As Col. Eddy, he was a famous Arabist who arranged and translated for the meeting between President Roosevelt and King Saud of Saudi Arabia on an American warship in the Red Sea in 1945. Subsequently Col. Eddy was an influential player in establishing American dominance in the Arabian oil business, first with Tapline, then Aramco. Enclosed is also the original invoice from B.H. Blackwell in Oxfor to W.A. Eddy, Esq, in Beirut dated 1954.
