An unusual and scarce book on archaeologicl finds during the Cultural Revolution (generally marked as 1966 to 1976). This was part of a Chinese campaign to show their respect for their own heritage, even as the Cultural Revolution was destroying much of it. Beijing was desperate to prove that the revoluion had cultural benefits, and in fact there were some amazing finds, including the famous terra cotta warriors. The text and explanation of the plates is in a folder inside the front cover, all in Chinese, as are the captions in the book. Color plates are tipped in, all present and all excellent. Very clean and tight , inside and out, with no prior owner marks. In original , fine slipcase.
