Published in New York the same year as the first London edition. Very clean and tight inside, with the full page plates complete with tissue guards. New endpapers have been added to reinforce the hinges. Archival tape repairs to the back of the excellent, large folding map of Commander Cameron's brave trek from Benguella on the West coast, north and east to Lake Tanganyika, and then east to the coast north of Dar es Salaam, across from Zanzibar, his route shown in red. Contemporary pictorial red cloth, with an outline of Africa in gilt on the front cover. Terra cotta cloth with outline of Africa map and top of gilt column on the front. Protected in a clear, mylar dustjacket. Clean and tight inside. An excellent read on Africa exploration.
